FIRE CHIEF

The Township seeks a qualified person to fill the full-time position of Fire Chief. 

Basic Function:  The Fire Chief directs all operations of the fire department; conducts interviews; makes hiring recommendations; supervises all fire department personnel; and delegates or develops policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state and local ordinances.

Desirable Qualifications:  Desirable qualifications for employment include: Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) in Fire Science; Michigan Firefighter I & II certification; Michigan Fire Officer I, II and III certification, five (5) years of experience in fire service, two (2) of which must be at a command position; a comprehensive knowledge of fire administration and management principles; ability to plan and direct varied operations; ability to manage emergency situations; interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with elected officials, coworkers and the public; ability to meet physical demands to perform essential functions of the job; supervisory skills necessary to effectively manage the daily operations and administration of assigned functions; familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 and BS&A software
